When it comes to preparing a healthy meal, a normal person would be automatically thinking of salads or coleslaw. Which is easy to prepare and also very healthy, but not towards the majorities liking. This however could be altered with a few simple adjustments with easy to follow recipes.
In today's society, food is becoming a very popular subject, and I am not talking about just grubbing. Turn on your everyday Television channel and you are sure to come by at least two to three different cooking programs or cooking reality TV shows which becoming ever so popular today. You will never be short of ideas on what to prepare for Healthy Meal.
The best way to prepare your meal is by steaming, boiling, broiling, baking, or even roasting without using too much oil. Deep frying will only bring you bad health by increasing cholesterol with the oily stuff that goes into you, which is not the thing that you want. The best alternative for Healthy Meals is the one that's prepared using olive oil. Not only that it's the best alternative, it is also good for your health.
One of the best ways to prepare salads or seasoning vegetables is by using herbs and spices. Not only does it gives out a great aroma and taste but also a healthy and balance meal. Use lemon juice or fat free dressing on salad, or use a yogurt based dressing instead of mayonnaise. There are a lot of ways to prepare a great salad meal.
When cooking or stir frying, use vegetable oil or tub margarine instead of butter or stick margarine to reduce the amount of saturated fats. You can also use a non-stick pan for cooking so added fat or oil will be unnecessary, use a vegetable spray for frying. Instead of deep frying, try first boiling or broiling whatever it is that you are cooking, and then stir fry it with olive oil. That way you can get a nice and warm cooked inside and a nice crispy outer side.
When baking, remember to use skim or low-fat milk in puddings, soups, and baked products. Use plain non-fat yogurt, blender-whipped cottage cheese, low-fat sour cream, or buttermilk that requires the use of buttered milk. And finally, always remember to eat a low-fat vegetarian main dish at least once a week.
